Welcome to Five Directions Press
Why five directions? Eurasian cosmology regards the center as a fifth direction that harmonizes north, south, east, and west. As a writers’ cooperative dedicated to producing and sharing high-quality contemporary fiction, historical fiction, and memoirs, we blend our diverse interests into a harmonious whole, a goal reflected in the image of the five directions.
Five Directions Press announces the publication of C. P. Lesley's The Winged Horse, second in her five-part series set in Russia during the childhood of Ivan the Terrible.

“Swiftly paced, with compelling characters and vivid scenes evoking distant Muscovy, The Golden Lynx is a find for lovers of historical fiction.” —Russian Life
We are also experimenting with distributing some of our books through KDP Select, so that readers can borrow them through the Kindle Owners Lending Library and Kindle Unlimited, the new subscription service set up by Amazon.com. At the moment, the two books available for borrowing are C. P. Lesley’s Desert Flower and Kingdom of the Shades, a two-part science fiction romance aimed at ballet lovers everywhere. Because Amazon.com imposes certain restrictions on authors who enroll their books in KDP Select, you will find purchase links only to the print editions here, but if you click on them, you can readily access the Kindle edition. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Turns out we are not the only writers who came up with the cooperative idea. Triskele Books, a UK-based authors’collective, is hosting an interview with us on their blog (and answering our questions). They have some great books, too, so take a look. So, too, does A Writer’s Choice, another international writers’ cooperative.
Five Directions Press has released an enhanced edition of Hillard Warren Pouncy, Jr.’s My Life as a Tuskegee Airman, one that fits the formatting specifications of major book distributors such as Ingram and Baker & Taylor, making the book more widely available. The new edition includes additional pictures and text.
For a lovely review of Seeking Sophia, which also topped a list of twelve books not to miss in 2013, see Words with JAM.
The Golden Lynx appears on the 2013 Summer Reading List for Swarthmore College, one of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges, and was chosen as a Featured Author Group Read by Historical Fictionistas, a Goodreads group, in March 2013.
